Hello,

I would like to introduce you to and/or update you on my special Uncle Ricardo (Richard) Tessini who we affectionately refer to as Uncle Nano.

Uncle Nano is a quiet, caring family man who is sixty years old.  He lives alone in a small house in Chile.  He has four daughters that he loves and cares for that range in ages from 14 to 31.  He is self-employed at this time where he drives a truck and moves construction material whenever work is available.

Three years ago Uncle Nano suffered from a life threatening accident where he fell from a ladder and ruptured his large intestine which caused a massive infection to enter into his blood.  After several surgeries, and a time of healing, he got better, but was left with a colostomy bag which has greatly affected his quality of life.  He needs to have another surgery to have his colon repaired and have the colostomy bag removed.  He has had his name on a waiting list for over 3 years to have this surgery, but has not been called since this is considered an elective surgery in Chile.

Over the years, Uncle Nano has always been there for me and my siblings. When we were younger, and he was in a much better financial state than he is now, many times he would buy food for our family when we did not have any.  He also helped care for us when we were sick, and would take us for medical care when we needed it.  He has always been a fundamental figure in our large extended family encouraging peace among us while keeping us together through good times and times of struggles.

Now we feel that it’s time to give back to him, and show him how much we care for and love him!  Uncle Nano does have basic government insurance which is valid only in public hospitals where no beds are available for this type of surgery at this time. Moreover, the government coverage would not pay for the complete surgery even if there were room. The surgery that he needs will have to be done at a private hospital and will cost around $6,000.00.  At this time, he does not have the money to cover this operation so we are asking for your help in supporting Uncle Nano during his time of need!  Please join us, along with our relatives in Chile, to help this surgery take place as soon as possible. We will keep you updated on Uncle Nano’s progress by posting news and events on this website.  Thank you for your support.  Any donation that you could make would be greatly appreciated!  Love Joel and Loreto
